The copyright owners in Copydan Blank Tapes are creators of audiovisual works and practising artists and producers who are affected by the increase in private copying. They include copyright owners in the music, film, and TV industries – such as actors, film producers, journalists, musicians, film cameramen, and so on. The statutory provisions state that one third of the remunerations collected under the scheme must be used to support innovative works in particular. Most of the remunerations – the two thirds – are distributed individually to copyright owners after copying has been carried out. The distribution of remunerations is performed by the individual trades unions that distribute the money to copyright owners in the respective areas.
